With the Faroe Islands now out of most City fans' system for another year (at least!) we can all now look towards our next obstacle in the quest for fully-fledged UEFA Cup football.

A 4-0 aggregate win over EB/Streymur saw the Blues into the hat for the second qualifying round for the competition and earlier today, when faced with a choice of five trips to Scandinavia, City were paired with a Danish Superliga side.

So while you prepare your travel arrangements for the second leg, please no trawlers this time, mcfc.co.uk provide the top 10 facts about our latest European opponents - FC Midtjylland...

* Like EB/Streymur in the previous round. our opponents are a team formed as part of a merger, the two clubs in this case being Ikast FS and Herning Fremad who were brought together in 1999.
* FC Midtjylland finished second in the Danish Superliga last season, nine points behind champions Aalborg BK, who are managed by former Bolton and Arsenal manager Bruce Rioch.
* Twelve different nationalities are represented in the Midtjylland squad, amongst their ranks are players from America, Burkina Faso, New Zealand, Nigeria and Slovakia.
* Egyptian striker Mohammed Zidan, a name familiar to those who saw the Hamburg game on Saturday, is the most famous player in the club's history. As a result of his success while at the club, the number 14 shirt has been retired in his honour.
* Their nickname is Ulvene, which means the Wolves.
* They play at the SAS Arena in the Herning area of Denmark and the ground is aptly nicknamed the 'Ulvegrotten' (the Wolves' cave).
* The Arena has a 12,500 capacity and a second nickname of the Zidan Arena following the nine goals scored in the first three games played there by the now Hamburg striker.
* As of January 2006, the city of Herning itself was made up of only 44,437 people, 518 less than came to watch City beat Man United at the City of Manchester Stadium last August.
* The Wolves beat Welsh side Bangor City 10-1 on aggregate in the first qualifying round, 6-1 in Wales, before a much-changed line-up eased to a 4-0 home victory in the second leg.
* Midtjylland have financial plans in place to be able to rival the bigger names of Danish football, such as Brondby and FC Copenhagen during the years to come, and are aiming to build on their record of Superliga runners-up in 2006-07 and two-time Danish Cup runners-up.

Ja, vi kan godt læse det på hjemmesiden

Tør godt garantere for at, hvis der er ting som de ikke ved noget om, så skal de nok finde ud af det !

Interessant viden de har dér! Men det der kan de ikke bruge til selve kampen. Så kommer de ihvertfald ikke langt! Tror de bliver overraskede over "The Wolves" styrke!

Det er måske lidt overdrevet, men jeg er enig i at i modsætning til tedenserne længere sydpå, så skal vi ikke forvente at Manchester City undervurderer os, og med en gammel engelsk rotte som Hughes, skal han nok overbevise dem om at der skal arbejdes for hver en meter, til sidste minut.

Jeg skal ærligt indrømme at jeg ikke levner os mange chancer mod klassespillere som Richards, Elano, Petrov osv., og jeg tror at vores bedste chancer er at overrumble dem på udebane og så score 1, og hvis vi er virkelig heldige/dygtige, 2 mål indenfor kort tid (lidt som AaB mod Tottenham) og så komme hjem med mindst uagjort, og så ellers forsvare os med alle midler på SAS Arena.

Hvis vi er naive nok til at tro at vi kan spille på niveau med dem i "åbent spil", så bliver vi straffet, det er jeg ikke i tvivl om...

vores chancer ligger også i at city spiller første kamp i Prl to dage senere, den 16. august mod villa i Birmingham, og den kamp er ret vigtig. Noget andet er at blandt andet Jõ ikke er til rådighed da han er til OL og -benjani er skadet og bliver ikke klar.
